Personal Branding (Pink Or Otherwise!) Puts Money In Your Pocket

A friend of mine and I had a conversation this morning about her nearly-teenaged daughter, who has just started at a new school.

“They’re really strict about the uniforms and how the kids conduct themselves in public,” she said. “They tell them: ‘listen, when you’re in uniform, you’re an ambassador for the school. How you look and behave show people who you are. And how you look and behave also reflect on your school and who WE are. So we don’t compromise on issues of uniform and behaviour.’”

That school clearly understands the importance of personal and corporate branding to an individual’s as well as an organisation’s success. And they’re teaching the kids about it, through example, in primary school no less!

They know that paying attention to how you brand yourself as a person is a critical life skill and a key business success factor. AND, if you are part of an organization, aligning personal and corporate branding is equally important.

Over the last five years, I’ve paid particular attention to my own personal branding. Anyone who knows me also knows that PINK is one of the fundamental aspects of my personal brand. I wear it consistently, in a range of different shades and hues. I regularly hear people refer to me as “the pink lady.” The colour makes me memorable.

But personal branding goes far beyond colour schemes – it’s who you are: your style, your posture, the way you speak, the way you behave, how you project yourself, how you communicate, how you interact with people. It’s reflected in your business cards, websites, brochures, even in your home.

And it’s integrated with your reputation. In the business I’m in (i.e. coaching, presenting and speaking), it’s vital.

So, even though I know a bit about personal branding, I decided it was time for me to know more. As often happens when I identify a need or problem, a solution arrives on the scene. So it is this time.

Personal branding expert, author and speaker Lesley Everett, who also happens to be a friend of my friend Jo Simpson (also an executive coach and trainer), will be giving a one-day personal branding workshop in Dubai on Tuesday, October 20 – PERFECT!

Even better, Everett is making AWR members and fans an exclusive offer on the workshop: two for the price of one (i.e. AED 1,250/person) when you register yourself and friend OR a 10% discount for single registrations (i.e. AED 2,250/person).

I want to go and I need someone to be my two-for-one partner. Please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you’re interested. You can find out more about the workshop here.

I have only one reservation about attending: I hope Everett doesn’t suggest I give up pink !
