Step Toward Freedom & Happiness

Susan notes: this short essay from the Daily OM really struck a chord with me. In 2005, I summoned up the courage to step out of a 20-year marriage, which for the most part had been been happy, but clearly no longer was. It was one of the toughest decisions of my life. Since then, I have been through six rollercoaster years that have included moments of deep despair and pure joy, as well as long stretches of both happiness and loneliness. My recommendation to anyone who is considering leaving a long-term relationship is to first try everything possible to make it work. If that fails, and you must go, know that you are stepping into your destiny and you will be okay. Read more about my story and the birth of this website here.

Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus

santa-claus-pics-0101Susan notes: This is one of my all time favourit Christmas stories, second only to The Little Match Girl. I believe in Santa Claus, magic, fairies, elves, angels, and dreams. How about you?

In 1897, eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon wrote a letter to the editor of New York's Sun; the quick response was printed as an unsigned editorial Sept. 21, the same year.
