Susan notes: This list makes sense to me, even at close-to-60! This great compliation is often falsely attributed to Maya Angelou.

In fact, it was penned by Pamela Redmond Satran, who has written five novels and numerous articles for a variety of publications.

Susan notes: I love how these Daily Om messages often speak to me directly... so many life lessons to learn, so little time to learn them!

Disappointment provides us a bridge from expectations to acceptance of reality, wisdom, and the energy to begin again.

Whenever we do something in life with an expectation of how we would like it to turn out, we risk experiencing disappointment. 

I've learned:

1) no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

2) you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

Susan notes: this is a lovely story, though I have no way of knowing whether it’s true or not. Several Internet searches proved futile in confirming it’s veracity. But it’s so sweet that I’m posting it anyway.

Hazel McCallion has won 12 consecutive municipal elections to remain the Mayor of Mississauga, Ontario, (Canada’s sixth largest city), for the past 33 years, outlasting a total of eight Canadian Prime Ministers.

That in itself is amazing. Even more so is the fact that Hazel just celebrated her 92nd birthday as I update this in 2013, and is still going strong.
